Bobby, the workaholic

its been a rough couple of days, so much to do and so little time to do it…

Firstly my watercooling stuff arrived: http://www.systemshock.co.za/forums/index.php?showtopic=19757&hl, I managed to play with it for a couple of hour before packing it all away will play with it again in three weeks time

My monster PC is nearly here, i need it now more than ever as the simulations have started and my work machine just isnt up to the task (it never was)…

I’ve been buried under work for the last couple of days, the techteam where i work has been reduced from 6 people last year to three this year so as you can imagine the already heavy workload has only increased. I’ve been working non-stop this week and at 6pm on a friday i’m still at work adding features to my portal.

 I’ve managed to extend my PHP template engine a bit, added a mailer/logger class and cleaned up the structure a bit, added options for running standalone ”components” and so on…

 I’ve now got a Particle Swarm Optimization assignment to do and a data compression assignment as well, going to try and do the data compression one later tonight, luckily my c++ skills are pretty honed atm, so it shouldn’t take too long.

I’ve noticed a glaring need for a second screen at home, i tried doing some dev work the other day and kept glancing to my right to stare at docs and there was nothing there, i’ve gotten spoilt at work. Sigh, just another expense…

Getting DSL next week, fucking finally!!! you have no idea how badly i need internet at home, i have a monstrous dev machine that’s crippled by lack of information… i need internet to learn, to code, to work…

As things stand i have so much stuff i need/want to do, currently my list is:

• Develop a constrast enhancement technique using the FPT/DPT algorithm
• I want to actually write a cuda program or two (been so busy i havent had the time)
• Strip and Extend my sigma delta surveillance system to make use of GPGPU techniques, i also want to try and make it do detection of color frames and not just grayscale
• I have alot of features i want to add to the postgrad system here at work
• I want to complete my case mod (in the above link), i’ve been wanting to do this for years now…
• I met a rad guy at a CSIR workshop on image processing, who is also interested in game development, i really want to try and work with him to develop something for the Gamedev.net 4 elements competition
• I want to learn MFC again
• I want to just sit and play with C++, I also want to experiment a bit with lua
• I want to play around with the unreal 3 engine, i started playing around with it but ranout of time and resources again (damn having no internet at home and a crappy machine at work)

Like you can see my plate is super full and i’m trying to get everything done but there just isnt enough time in the day, i wanted to not have to work weekends this year (actually it was my new years resolution) but i dont think that will be possible.

 Like right now i’m really tired, all i wanna do is get some mince, go home and make pasta, eat maybe watch a movie and then if i feel up to it get some work done, otherwise get a good nights sleep and work all of tomorrow and sunday…

My girlfriend isnt gonna be impressed (i’ll be in the dog box for a while )
